It was a big week for art and culture in West Africa. In Lagos, there was the 10th annual Lagos Fashion Week (Oct 23-29) showcasing designers from across the African continent, as well as the 9th edition of Art x Lagos running from Oct 31 to November 3. In Ghana, Gallery 1957 is putting on Accra Culture Week, featuring works from African and Caribbean artists.

President Ramaphosa announced that South Africa has filed documents with the International Court of Justice for its case against Israel on charges of genocide.

  • In Africa Is A Country, Idris Olakunle Ajao reviews Ebrohimie Road, a new documentary about Wole Soyinka produced by Kola Tuboson.
  • As rumours of President Paul Biya’s health continue to circulate, Africa Report has reposted a biography of the controversial long-time president of Cameroon.
  • Guinea’s military government has dissolved 53 political parties over alleged irregularities, and put 67 more on notice. No date has been set for elections.
