Senegal has set a new date for presidential elections, originally to be held in February. Voters will head to the polls on March 24 to elect a successor to Macky Sall. Sall’s attempts to extend his tenure and postpone elections to June were halted by the country’s Constitutional Council. Top opposition leaders have also been released from prison.

In the aftermath of AFCON 2024 in Abidjan, many countries are starting difficult conversations around corruption and mismanagement in African sport. Mail and Guardian covers the issue in Kenya, Uganda, Cameroon, and Ghana. The Republic speaks on the DRC national team’s protests during AFCON and the disappointing response from the Congolese government.
