Egypt and Sudan are the sole holdouts of a new agreement on sharing water from the Nile. The Nile Basin Initiative has been accepted by Burundi, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Tanzania, and Uganda and South Sudan. Tensions have risen between Egypt and Ethiopia over the ongoing construction of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam.
