Rwanda joins Seychelles, Benin, and Gambia in offering visa-free travel to all African nationals. William Ruto, President of Kenya, has announced his country's intention to implement the same policy by the end of the year.

It has been a big week for African fashion. UNESCO released a report calling on African governments to play a role in supporting their fashion industries. Mail & Guardian asks African fashion designers about some of the struggles facing a promising industry, and whether trade and IP protection could be the answer. Africa News’ Business Africa also talks about the future of “Made in Africa” crafts and fashion. African Fashion Week took place in London, October 27-29.

  • Moise Camara, former military leader of Guinea, was broken out of prison before being rearrested by military forces. Camara seized power in a 2008 coup before being deposed by mass protests in 2010. He was imprisoned last year for his role in a 2009 massacre against civilians.
  • After going viral with her single “Water” and appearing on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, South African singer Tyla sits down for an interview with Cosmopolitan.
  • Africa Soft Power’s photo exhibition opens in Lagos, showcasing submissions for their Climate Change photo essay contest.
