The Grammys have released this year’s nominations for the new category “Best African Music Performance.” Nominations include songs by Asake, Olamide, MusaKeys, Ayra Starr, Tyla and Davido. Including nominations in other categories for “Best Melodic Rap,” “Best Global Music Performance,” and “Best Global Album,” this year also marked a record for the number of Nigerian nominees.

The results of Liberia’s presidential election were inconclusive, with neither President George Weah nor his challenger Joseph Boakai achieving over 50 percent of the vote. The election proceeds to a second round on Tuesday, 13 November. Weah, a former footballer, was first elected in 2017 in a populist campaign aimed at addressing corruption. Since then, economic woes worsened by COVID and the Russia-Ukraine War have hurt Weah’s popularity.
