The UN COP27 climate conference is being held in Egypt, November 6-18. The conference has drawn criticisms for not extending invitations to African activists, amidst larger conversations about the co-optation of the conference by fossil fuel companies and the balance between Africa’s commitment to climate action and need for industrialisation. Nigeria’s President Buhari even wrote an op-ed on the latter in the Washington Post.
