Rached Ghannouchi, Tunisia's former head of parliament and current leader of the opposition, is back in court facing money laundering charges. The UN COP27 climate conference is being held in Egypt, November 6-18. The conference has drawn criticisms for not extending invitations to African activists, amidst larger conversations about the co-optation of the conference by fossil fuel companies and the balance between Africa’s commitment to climate action and need for industrialisation. Nigeria’s President Buhari even wrote an op-ed on the latter in the Washington Post
