Heading
Cynthia is a PhD candidate at Carleton University in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology. Her research delves into the small-scale gold mining sector in Ghana, particularly focusing on Women’s Work at Ghana’s Small-Scale Mines. Cynthia's work explores themes of poverty, vulnerability, and adaptation within this context. Notably, she has been instrumental in raising awareness about mercury use in Ghana's gold production, actively contributing to a critical re-evaluation of the Minamata Convention in Africa.
