The government of Cameroon has banned the media from discussing President Paul Biya’s health. Biya, who is 91 years old, has not been seen in public in the past month. Earlier this year, Biya’s government postponed legislative and local elections that were meant to be held in March 2025 by one year.

Martin Kwakuu Ayisi, CEO of Ghana's Mineral Commission, spoke before the country's parliament to reiterate that foreign involvement in informal mining was illegal. This statement comes amidst growing protest against illegal mining in the country.
